KABISERA (2016) tells the story of a family thriving to seek justice in a system of messed up structures and politics. Nora Aunor plays the central character – Mercy- with a refreshing take on characterization, and she builds the narrative through her perspectives, however jaded; however unclear. And this is where the film fails. It falls flat in establishing its intended focus. Clear that the film is about Extra Judicial Killings; a thesis that is more than relevant, but the film tends to be wary of its structure that we all end up not empathizing with its characters at all.
